An interesting 4 days tour of Moldova

One of Moldova’s characteristic traits is its ethnic diversity. As early as the beginning of the eighteenth century, Moldovan prince and scholar Dimitrie Cantemir observed that he “didn’t believe that there “existed” a single country of the size of Moldova in which so many and such diverse peoples meet. That’s why this tour is the best way for you to know better Moldova’s ethnic diversity.

1 Day:

On arrival at Chisinau International Airport, your driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Enjoy dinner at the hotel and spend the evening relaxing.Free time.

2 Day:

The next morning, after breakfast at the hotel, your guide will meet you at 8am for a trip to the “underground town” of Cricova, where some of the tunnels date back to the 15th century. Visit Moldova’s second largest wine cellar and enjoy a wine tasting before lunch at a traditional guesthouse. Continue to the medieval town of Old Orhei (Orheiul Vechi), which sits in a deep, narrow bend of the Raut River valley. Learn about the different civilizations found to have settled here, from fortresses dating back to the 1st century BC to 14th-century Orthodox monasteries. Return to the guesthouse for dinner, where you can enjoy scenic views over the picturesque landscape before settling in for the night.

3 Day:

The next morning depart for Gagauzia, the autonomous region of Moldova, at 8am. Explore Comrat, the capital, on a city tour where you can visit the Cathedral of Saint John Baptist, built in 1820, and the Turkish Library. Break for lunch at a traditional restaurant, where you can sample some of the red wines and muscats which Comrat is famous for. In the afternoon, continue to Beshalma where you will visit the the National Gagauz History and Ethnographic Museum, where you can learn more about the Orthodox culture and the folklore of the Turkish-Gagauzian people.  Cap the day off with a visit to the Ciadir Lunga Horse Farm, which breeds pedigree Orlov Trotter horses. Pet the horses and learn about what makes this particular breed so special. Afterwards, return to Chisinau.

 

 

4 Day:

After spending the night, depart at 8am for Tiraspol, the second largest city in Moldova.  Visit Tighina Fortress. Near the oldest Nistru gorge, in the third century B.C., there was a human settlement in Tighina. Later there appeared the first palisade and earthwork fortification. The first documentary mention of “Tighina Fortress” was in 1408. In the reign of Petru Rares the fortress was rebuilt in stone. Its walls have survived to the present and offer an example of classic Moldavian defensive construction. In 1538 Tighina was conquered by the Turkish Empire and re-named Bender. Lunch in Tiraspol, restaurant “Kumanek”. City Tour Tiraspol. Return to Chisinau International Airport.
